An MOT test is an annual test for any car in the UK that is over 3 years old. They check brakes, clutch, bodywork, CV boots, exhaust emmissions (I've had a car fail on too much oxygen in the emissions before!)..... Anything broken must be fixed or the car isn't allowed on the road. That's why there are very few old cars here - it becomes too expensive fixing them to the standard required to be allowed to drive them!
